Clinical significance of throat swab collection

Feb 19, 2022

If pathogenic bacteria are detected in sputum and throat swab secretions, it is regarded as a respiratory infection. It can be combined with other examinations (X-ray fluoroscopy, B-ultrasound, etc.) to diagnose the site of respiratory infection. Common bacteria in respiratory tract infections include: Staphylococcus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, etc. If Mycobacterium tuberculosis is cultured, it is pulmonary tuberculosis. If yeast-like bacteria are cultivated, consider whether the antibiotics are used inappropriately or excessively during the infection. The antibiotics should be stopped immediately, and antifungal drugs, such as amphotericin B, griseofulvin, and clotrimazole, should be used instead.
