How to choose a reagent bottle?
May 02, 2022
Chemical reagents are necessary items for experiments. They are not only various, but also have large performance differences. For example, some are very stable at room temperature, while some are usually very active, some are not affected by high temperature, and some are flammable and explosive. There are so many types of reagents, how to choose the right reagent bottle?
1. Bottle size
Reagent bottles are divided into wide-mouthed bottles and small-mouthed bottles. The wide-mouthed bottle has a larger mouth and is mainly used to store solid reagents. The large-diameter bottle mouth is easy to take. The small-mouth bottle has a small mouth and is mainly used to store liquid reagents. It should be noted that the liquid in the small-mouth bottle is easily contaminated, so be careful when taking the liquid.
2. Reagent bottle color
The color of the reagent bottle is generally transparent or brown. The brown bottle is used to store chemical reagents that are easily decomposed by light, such as nitric acid, silver nitrate, silver hydroxide, chlorine water, etc., and the transparent bottle is used to store general chemical reagents.
3. Reagent bottle material
At present, most of the reagent bottles are made of glass or plastic. However, due to the fragile glass material and the cumbersome cleaning process, plastic reagent bottles with strong mechanical properties and acid and alkali corrosion resistance have gradually become the common choice in the market. It is worth noting that plastic reagent bottles are suitable for packaging in the range of pH 5.5-9.0, and are not suitable for strong reducing liquid packaging.
①PET material (polyethylene terephthalate)
1. Transparent, durable, hard and pressure resistant
2. Unique function of blocking gas and moisture
3. Excellent alcohol and solvent tolerance
4. Not suitable for high temperature substances
②HDPE (High Density Polyethylene)
1. Moisture resistance, translucent, pressure resistance, low temperature resistance
2. Suitable for high-speed filling applications, as long as it meets the specifications, it can hold water-based chemicals, toiletries and cosmetics, as well as certain types of food
③PVC (polyvinyl chloride)
1. Transparent, hard, unique anti-oxidative penetration and oil pollution
2. Water blocking performance
3. Can hold toiletries and cosmetics
④LDPE (low density polyethylene)
1. Soft, squeezable, can be used as a watering can and dropper bottle
2. Not easy to break
3. Good compression resistance at low temperature
4. Product filling can be carried out at a lower temperature
5. It is not recommended to fill gas and solvent
⑤PP (polypropylene)
1. Hard, transparent and light weight
2. Withstand 121℃
3. It can be used to hold dry substances that are not susceptible to moisture.
