The impact of pipette tips on experiments
Sep 02, 2022
1. Material of pipette tips
Generally, most of the better tips are made of high quality and impurity-free polypropylene (PP) material, no plasticizers, heavy metals and other substances, and the tip wall has good elasticity so that the resistance of the tip in low temperature or higher temperature environment is also better.
2. Tip matching
The compatibility of the pipette tip with the pipette will directly affect the accuracy of the experimental results. If you choose a poor-quality pipette tip, it is easy to have problems with different tip sizes and poor sealing performance, which can lead to the accuracy of pipetting. In addition, when pipetting with a volumetric gun, such tips can easily show the phenomenon of uneven liquid levels, which can lead to deviations in experimental data. Therefore, laboratory personnel in the product selection must be preferred to high-quality tips.
3. Tip structure
Because of the poor quality of the inner wall of the tip rough, burr, tip and even present notch, in the use of a pipette gun for liquid discharge operation, there will be residual liquid inside the tip wall hanging phenomenon, especially the fine sample pipetting operation, a small amount of residue will directly affect the accuracy of experimental data.
