Pipette Tip Types

Apr 01, 2023

Pipette tips are classified into several types based on their functions and properties. Sterility is one factor that distinguishes pipettes. Some tips may be sterile and RNase-free (filter tip). Non-sterile tips, on the other hand, are typically autoclavable and useful in simple laboratory experiments such as serological tests.
Another consideration is their purpose; some require a longer head to prevent contamination (long tip), while others require precise measurement (low retention tips). Finally, size is a basis for differentiation; universal (non-sterile) pipette tips range from 0.1 to 1000 l.
